Backing philanthropists and giving back
As a former student who arrived in America with $8 in his pocket, M.R. knows the power that a kind gesture or small loan can have on a young person.
After early success in the rapidly-expanding enterprise software industry, M.R. turned his focus to financing startup founders to help them realize their own financial and business dreams.
Returns on these ventures enabled M.R. to found the SHG Foundation, a nonprofit focused on improving the lives of children and women around the world. Over the years, SHG has funded dozens of philanthropic causes, including Agastya, Black Girls Code, BUILD, and Room to Read.
M.R. incorporated a philanthropic aspect to his nonprofit Indiaspora, as well. The global organization recently raised more than $1.1 million for hunger relief related to the COVID-19 epidemic, alone.
In addition to dozens of informal mentorships, M.R. formally sits on the boards of three nonprofits, the Kaliash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation, The Nudge Foundation, and the WISH Foundation.
M.R. plans to continue his social entrepreneurship efforts and fundraising through public speaking and keynoting for impactful organizations.
